Our Mission
To bridge the literacy gap by providing underprivileged children with access to high-quality books and educational resources. We believe that every child, regardless of their background or zip code, deserves the opportunity to own books, discover the joy of reading, and unlock their full potential.
OUR VISION
A world where every child has a personal library at home and the confidence to read, learn, and dream without limits.
WHO WE ARE
2 KIDS 4 BOOKS, INC. is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a love for reading in our communities. Founded on the simple belief that books change lives, we operate as a bridge between those who have books to share and the children who need them most.
We focus on two core problems:
Book Deserts: Many low-income neighborhoods lack adequate access to libraries or bookstores.
Literacy Decline: Without access to reading materials at a young age, children fall behind in school, affecting their long-term success.
OUR PROGRAMS
1. The Open Book Project (Book Distribution)
Our flagship program collects new and gently used books from donors, publishers, and schools. These books are sorted and distributed directly to children in shelters, underfunded schools, and community centers, ensuring they have books to call their own.
2. Peer-to-Peer Reading Mentorship
We believe in "Kids Helping Kids." We pair older student volunteers with younger readers for weekly reading sessions. This not only improves literacy skills but also builds confidence and fosters positive role models within the community.
3. Classroom Library Support
We partner with teachers in Title I schools to restock their classroom libraries with diverse and engaging titles, allowing educators to focus on teaching rather than purchasing supplies out of pocket.
